Shafiqur Rahman oversees election preparations throughout the day
According to the party, Shafiqur will cast his vote at the 60 Feet Manipur Boys High School.
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman remained active from early this morning (10 February), overseeing election-related activities and coordination throughout the day.
He began his day by performing Fajr prayers at Baba Huzur Mosque in the East Manipur area of Dhaka-15 constituency. He then used the remaining permitted campaigning hours (until 7am) for voter outreach.
At around 11am, Shafiqur Rahman held a courtesy meeting with a high-level delegation led by Evers Izabs, chief observer of the European Union Election Observation Mission and a member of the European Parliament.
According to the party, Shafiqur will cast his vote at the 60 Feet Manipur Boys High School.
Several leaders of Jamaat's election management committee said that after completing early morning campaigning, the ameer returned to the party's central office in Moghbazar, where he met the EU delegation and spent the rest of the day.
Throughout the day, he monitored reports of attacks on party workers across the country and oversaw election preparations and coordination efforts.
In the evening, he held a meeting with top leaders of the Jamaat-led 11-party alliance at the party's central office.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Shafiqur said the alliance was fully prepared to extend all necessary cooperation to the Election Commission and the administration to ensure a free, fair and acceptable election.
He said, "The alliance's goal was to ensure voters' rights and public aspirations, rather than allowing any controversial or one-sided election as seen in the past."
As part of the preparation, he said voters have been urged to go to polling centres without fear and not to return home until their votes are cast. He also called on citizens to remain vigilant so that no "ill forces" can spread disorder or rumours to disrupt the election environment.
