Shafiqur alleges vandalism of Jamaat's 13 election camps in Dhaka-15
He also wrote that the “politics of muscle power” has ended, adding that the will of the people could not be suppressed
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that 13 of his party's election camps in the Dhaka-15 constituency, where he is contesting for the 13th national polls, were vandalised today (11 February).
In a Facebook post this afternoon, he condemned and protested the attack.
The Jamaat chief also strongly criticised what he described as violence aimed at obstructing the democratic process.
"Those who are still trying to stop us through violence and intimidation are forgetting that this nation has already passed through July," he said.
He also wrote that the "politics of muscle power" has ended, adding that the will of the people could not be suppressed.
He also claimed that his political opponents, having failed to engage in policy-based debate, had "resorted to acts of violence."
"The politics of fear will no longer prevail," Shafiqur added, expressing confidence that the support he claims to have garnered from voters in Daripalla would be reflected in the ballot.
