Porwar's X account targeted in cyberattack similar to its ameer, alleges Jamaat
"No matter how much these criminals conspire, their identities will soon be revealed to the nation," the party's Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair says.
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has alleged that the X (formerly Twitter) account of its Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar, was subjected to a major cyberattack, following a recent "hacking" of the party Ameer Shafiqur Rahman's account.
The party also stated that the attackers posted objectionable content from the secretary general's account.
In a statement last night (3 February), the party's Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair said, "As part of an organised conspiracy, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders' social media accounts are being targeted one after another. Recently, the ameer's X account was attacked. In continuation of this, miscreants hacked the secretary general's X account."
Zubair, who is also the head of the party's Central Publicity and Media Department, confirmed that the attack occurred at 9:03pm, with the intruders posting via device hacking. "The party's central social media team immediately deleted the content."
He added that legal action will be taken promptly.
"No matter how much these criminals conspire, their identities will soon be revealed to the nation. We urge the administration to take action against those responsible for such serious offences, regardless of their power," the Jamaat leader said.
