Mirza Fakhrul clinches Thakurgaon-1 with nearly 1 lakh vote lead
Thakurgaon-1 recorded a 76.49% voter turnout, with 3,91,341 out of 5,11,631 registered voters casting their ballots.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been unofficially elected from the Thakurgaon-1 constituency, securing a commanding lead over his nearest rival as the final results were announced.
According to the Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Esrat Farzana, Fakhrul received 238,836 votes.
His closest contender, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Delawar Hossain, secured 141,017 votes.

Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir cast his vote at Thakurgaon Government Girls' High School polling centre in his home district shortly after voting began at 7:30am yesterday.
Fakhrul expressed hope that the election would usher in a new chapter for Bangladesh and said, "This path will lead the country's politics, economy, and people's lives towards a better future."
"We expect this election to be free, fair, and neutral, and to be held peacefully with the participation of all. We believe it will usher in a new chapter for the country," he told reporters.
