Jamaat-e-Islami women's rally postponed
The rally was originally scheduled to begin at 10:30am on Saturday.
The women's wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced the postponement of its rally slated for 31 January at the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
In a statement published on the party's central women's wing Facebook page this evening (29 January), the party cited "unavoidable reasons" for the postponement.
Earlier on Tuesday (27 January), the party's Deputy Ameer Abdullah Md Taher had announced the rally at a press conference held at Jamaat-e-Islami's central office in Moghbazar.
The programme was intended to protest attacks on the party's women activists across the country and demand their safety, according to the party.
The rally was originally scheduled to begin at 10:30am on Saturday.
However, no details have been released yet regarding the rescheduled date or future plans for the programme.
