After more than one and a half decades, voters are taking part in a peaceful voting festival. Some voters are bringing their young children along to the polling centres to witness the process.
At Ibrahimpur Government Primary School in the capital, a private employee Atikur Rahman arrived at the centre to cast his vote, accompanied by his young son Faiyaz.
Speaking to a TBS reporter after casting his ballot, Atik said, "The voting was peaceful and he faced no difficulties in exercising his franchise."
His son Faiyaz said he felt happy to come to the polling centre with his father.
The polling centre falls under the Dhaka-15 constituency, where Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman and BNP candidate Shafiqul Islam Milton are contesting.
Sahabul Islam, the presiding officer of Ibrahimpur Government Primary School centre, told TBS that out of 3,017 registered voters, 981 votes had been cast as of 12pm, marking a turnout of around 33%.
