BNP candidate Fahim Chowdhury wins Sherpur-2 seat
BNP candidate Mohammad Fahim Chowdhury has been declared winner from Sherpur-2 constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
He bagged 1,18,472 votes while his nearest rival Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Mohammad Golam Kibria got 1,08,335 votes.
Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed disclosed the information at a briefing held at the at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital's Agargaon yesterday (13 February).
Meanwhile, in a notification, the commission said it is legally obligated to withhold the publication of results of three constituencies -- Sherpur-2, Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4 -- until the final disposal of relevant cases in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
However, later in the day, the EC published the result of Sherpur-2, but publication of the results of Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4 have been kept withheld.
