69% voter turnout at 983 centres in Bogura
The district has 2,981,940 registered voters, including men, women, and hijra voters
Voting in Bogura's seven constituencies concluded yesterday with an overall turnout of 69.10% in the 13th national election, according to the district's Returning Officer Md Toufiqul Rahman.
Polling began at 7:30am and continued until 4:30pm across 983 centres, although the turnout figure did not include postal ballots, officials said in the evening.
Turnout varied among the constituencies, with Bogura-1 recording 61.86%, Bogura-2 at 68.55%, Bogura-3 at 70.51%, Bogura-4 at 73.45%, Bogura-5 at 70.32%, Bogura-6 at 71.15%, and Bogura-7 at 67.89% .
The district has 2,981,940 registered voters, including men, women, and hijra voters, while 500 of the polling centres were marked as sensitive by the administration.
A total of 34 candidates from nine political parties contested the seven parliamentary seats in the district.
To ensure smooth polling, the administration deployed 44 executive magistrates and 14 judicial magistrates, alongside a large security presence.
Security arrangements included nearly 1,300 army personnel, 24 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh, 128 Rapid Action Battalion members, about 2,266 police officers, and 12,779 Ansar members.
