Trump claims credit for ending ‘eight wars,’ says Obama won Nobel for ‘doing nothing’
'I've stopped eight wars, so that's never happened before - but they'll have to do what they do. Whatever they do is fine,' says US President Donald Trump.

US President Donald Trump, in his determined quest for the Nobel Peace Prize, has claimed credit for ending "eight wars" and taken aim at former president Barack Obama's accomplishments, claiming the latter achieved the accolade for "doing nothing" while allegedly "destroying our country."
During a press briefing at the White House yesterday (9 October), Trump highlighted his claims of securing peace in Gaza and putting an end to "eight wars," insisting that his actions had not been motivated by the desire for recognition, reports NDTV.
With the announcement of the Nobel award just hours away, Trump expressed frustration that Obama had received the prize merely months into his presidency.
"He got it for doing nothing. Obama got a prize – he didn't even know what – he got elected, and they gave it to Obama for doing absolutely nothing but destroying our country," Trump said.
Obama was awarded the Nobel Prize eight months into his first term in 2009, a decision that surprised many.
"They gave it to Obama for absolutely nothing but destroying our country," Trump continued, following the historic peace agreement brokered between Israel and Hamas.
"I've stopped eight wars, so that's never happened before - but they'll have to do what they do. Whatever they do is fine. I know this: I didn't do it for that, I did it because I saved a lot of lives."
Since returning to office in January, Trump's efforts to sway the Peace Research Institute Oslo, the organisation that aids the Nobel Committee in evaluating candidates, have been quite noticeable.
This year's Nobel Peace Prize winner will be announced at 11am local time (09:00 GMT) on Friday at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo.
