Symbolic gesture from Ukraine's first lady helps set tone for Trump-Zelenskiy meeting

A small gesture by Ukraine's first lady appeared to help set a more cordial tone at a White House meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Friday.
Zelenskiy presented Trump with a letter from his wife, addressed to First Lady Melania Trump, at the start of their Oval Office talks. The move preceded some of Trump's strongest assurances yet that Washington would remain engaged in efforts to resolve the war in Ukraine, says CNN.
"It's never the end of the road," Trump said when asked whether the summit required a concrete outcome.
Trump stressed that Europe must take the lead in ensuring any peace settlement, but said the United States would remain a partner. "They are first line of defense, because they're there, Europe," he said. "But we're going to help them out. Also, we'll be involved."
