Musk struggles to justify calling Mamdani a ‘swindler’ on Rogan podcast
When Joe Rogan prompted him for specifics on Mamdani's alleged misdeeds, Elon Musk sat in silence for a while.
Elon Musk found himself a bit speechless last month when pressed to clarify his assertion that Zohran Mamdani is a "swindler."
During his appearance on the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience on 31 October, Musk labelled the then frontrunner for the New York City mayoral race a "swindler," reports The Independent.
When Rogan prompted him for specifics on Mamdani's alleged misdeeds, Musk sat in silence for a while before stating, "What I mean, if you, if you say, if you say to any audience, whatever that audience wants to hear, uh, instead of what, in instead of having a consistent message, I would say that that is a swindling thing to do."
Mamdani, who identifies as a democratic socialist and advocates for taxing the ultra-wealthy, ultimately won the election just days later on Tuesday (4 November), beating his opponents, independent Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.
Musk has not exactly been gracious about Mamdani's recent win. After the election results, he took to his platform X (formerly Twitter) to suggest that the mayor-elect's victory was somehow rigged.
In a tweet accompanied by a photo of a ballot, Musk claimed, "The New York City ballot form is a scam!" pointing out what he described as suspicious flaws, which, in reality, are just standard features of ballots, reports Futurism.
