UAE says it intercepts Iranian missiles and drones, issues public safety guidance
Authorities said the defensive measures were responsible for unusual sounds reported across the city. A nationwide mobile alert was later issued confirming that conditions were safe and normal activities could resume.
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defence said it had successfully intercepted and neutralized multiple Iranian missile and drone threats using its air defence systems, adding that the situation was now under control.
Authorities said the defensive measures were responsible for unusual sounds reported across the city. A nationwide mobile alert was later issued confirming that conditions were safe and normal activities could resume, says Gulf News.
The ministry said all necessary precautions were being taken to protect civilians, critical infrastructure and essential services.
Officials also outlined safety protocols for residents during such incidents, urging the public to prioritize safety over filming and to avoid recording videos or posting content on social media during alerts.
Motorists were advised to continue driving safely to their destinations and seek shelter upon arrival, rather than stopping on roads.
Residents were instructed to remain indoors in secure locations until an official "all clear" is announced.
Authorities also cautioned against spreading unverified information and said the 999 hotline should be used only for genuine emergencies.
