Gaza row: A 'new map' goes viral on social media after Donald Trump's takeover comment; netizens say '51st US state'
Soon after President Donald Trump announced that the US will 'takeover' the Gaza Strip, social media users shared a 'new map' showing Israel and American territory in the Middle East.

Donald Trump proposed that the US should "take over: the Gaza Strip after repeatedly calling for the Palestinians to be resettled elsewhere.
He made this statement during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on yesterday (4 February), suggesting that Americans should take over Gaza and rejuvenate the region marred by conflict and destruction over the last two years, says Times Now News.
"The US will take over the Gaza Strip and we will do a job with it too. We'll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings," Trump said. "As far as Gaza is concerned, we'll do what is necessary. If it's necessary, we'll do that. We're going to take over that piece that we're going to develop it," he later added.
Soon after the proposal, social media users began sharing a "new map" of the region showing Israeli and American territory in the Middle East. The new map went viral, with many users chiming in. "Let's call it the MAGA Strip," one user commented. While another wrote, "Gaza is the 51st state of America."
Gaza is the fourth annexation target for Trump
The Gaza Strip is the fourth place President Trump has suggested that the US should annex. The 78-year-old has advocated for the US to take over Greenland from Denmark since his first administration and continues to support the idea. He also proposed that Americans should control the Panama Canal instead of Panama and repeatedly floated the idea of making Canada the 51st US state.
