Trump invites Xi to White House on 24 Sep

US President Donald Trump today (14 May) invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to the White House for a visit on 24 September during a state banquet Xi held for Trump in Beijing.
Addressing guests at the banquet, Trump described Xi as his friend and said the two leaders had held "extremely positive and constructive discussions."
Trump added that the US-China relationship was one of the most consequential in world history.
The style of the speech was unusual for Trump. Reserved, highly scripted and without the typical ad-libbing and "swerving" that usually characterises his addresses.
