Will submit Peace Prize nomination for Trump: Israeli parliament speaker
Trump, who has long coveted the prestigious prize, has been outspoken about his desire for the honour

Israeli parliament Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana promised that Israel would nominate US President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize he has long sought but did not receive last week, reports Reuters.
"We will rally ... to submit your candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize next year," he said, after which he got a standing ovation.
Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado was awarded the prize this year.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee said it was honouring her "for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy."
Trump, who has long coveted the prestigious prize, has been outspoken about his desire for the honour during both of his presidential terms, particularly lately as he takes credit for ending conflicts around the world.
The White House had criticised the Nobel Committee's decision to grant the peace prize to the Venezuelan opposition leader instead of Trump, who had aggressively lobbied for the award and touted his role in brokering international ceasefire deals.
Asked about the Nobel on 10 October, Trump did not directly criticise the Committee's decision, but he credited himself for resolving several wars and said Machado might have given him the award if he had asked.
Nominations for the Nobel must have been made before 31 January to be valid for this year's prize. Trump returned to the White House for his second term in office on 20 January.
Trump acknowledged that the committee's decision in practice had focused on 2024 when he had been campaigning for president, but he suggested his contributions to peace were so great that they should have given him the prize anyway.
"I was running for office in '24. But there are those that say we did so much that they should have done it."
