Modi, Abu Dhabi crown prince discuss defence, nuclear co-op on sidelines of BRICS Summit
The two leaders also discussed cooperation in space and technology and welcomed progress in bilateral ties, including a $11.5 billion aluminium project in India’s Odisha.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (12 September) met Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in New Delhi to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in strategic and emerging areas, including defence, space, nuclear energy and technology.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, with the two leaders reiterating the importance of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, built on strong political, cultural, commercial, energy and people-to-people ties, according to an official readout by the Indian prime minister's office.
The two leaders welcomed the "positive" outcomes within BRICS during India's chairship and agreed to continue working closely through the platform to advance shared interests and priorities and further strengthen BRICS cooperation.

They noted progress in bilateral relations across a wide range of sectors and the announcement by the UAE's International Holding Company (IHC) to invest in the development of an $11.5 billion integrated greenfield aluminium project in India's Odisha, described as India's largest integrated aluminium investment.
The project is expected to position India's Odisha as a global aluminium manufacturing hub.
The leaders also acknowledged the important role that L'IMAD, the UAE's newest sovereign investment platform, could play in further deepening the India-UAE partnership for mutual benefit.
The meeting reaffirmed the tradition of regular leadership-level engagement and the continuity underpinning relations between India and the UAE.
