Indian Navy top brass to meet to discuss swift deployments for protecting maritime interests
The meeting is aimed at enhancing interoperability and jointness and deriving a broader perspective on national stability, security architecture and a collaborative approach to address future maritime challenges.
Top commanders of the Indian Navy will meet in New Delhi for three days starting tomorrow (14 April) for a comprehensive review of the force's operational posture to protect national maritime interests, capability development and strategic alignment with national security objectives.
"The first edition of the biannual conference holds significance in the light of swift naval deployments to safeguard India's energy security amidst the ongoing conflict in West Asia with convergence of multinational forces in the Indian Ocean Region," the Indian Navy said in a statement yesterday.
The conference also bears importance in reaffirming the Indian Navy's operational doctrine, inter-services coordination and technology-driven response mechanisms, it said.
The meeting is aimed at enhancing interoperability and jointness and deriving a broader perspective on national stability, security architecture and a collaborative approach to address future maritime challenges.
The Indian Navy has deployed a number of warships in the Gulf of Oman to escort Indian-flagged cargo vessels sailing through the Strait of Hormuz, which is at the centre of the US-Israeli war on Iran.
The chief of naval staff, along with the operational commanders and senior naval leadership, will review and assess plans to address multi-dimensional challenges in the current geo-strategic environment.
Alongside security imperatives, the deliberations will focus on achieving decisive operational success, enhancing blue-water capabilities, training, human resource management, operational logistics and other key enablers for combat readiness of platforms.
Discussions are also planned to review the implementation of an artificial intelligence roadmap for pan-navy solutions and data-driven technologies for seamless operations.
On a broader canvas, the Indian Navy's apex leadership will review overall preparedness to deliver military success when directed by the government, in line with the navy's four roles as elaborated in the Indian maritime doctrine.
The meeting will focus on sustained operations, expanding international cooperation, in addition to furthering India's vision of Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security Across Regions (MAHASAGAR) and efforts towards indigenisation and innovation.
"The deliberations during the conference will certainly aim towards promoting the Indian Navy as the 'Preferred Security Partner' in the IOR and Indo-Pacific region," according to the statement.
