India set to roll out Its latest warship armed with supersonic missiles

India is all set to induct its latest frontline warship armed with supersonic surface-to-surface missiles and medium-range surface-to-air missiles to help bolster its navy.
Built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Mumbai, the frigate named 'Taragiri,' is "a generational leap over earlier designs with a sleeker form and a significantly reduced radar cross-section that allows it to operate with lethal stealth," the Defence Ministry said today.
The 6,670-tonne Taragiri will be commissioned by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at Visakhapatnam on April 3.
The warship's indigenous content exceeds 75 percent, "highlighting the maturity of a domestic industrial ecosystem spanning over 200 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Driven by a combined diesel or gas propulsion plant, the warship ship's weapon system features "supersonic surface-to-surface missiles, medium- range surface-to-air missiles and a specialised anti-submarine warfare suite.
"These systems are seamlessly integrated through a state-of-the-art combat management system, ensuring that the crew can respond to threats with split-second precision," said the Defence Ministry.
Beyond its role as a premier warship, 'Taragiri' is built for the complexities of modern diplomacy and humanitarian crises with a flexible mission profile that allows it to carry out high-intensity combat to Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR).
