Protests to continue, says CJP after Wangchuk ends hunger strike
The CJP has called for nationwide protests today in solidarity with the students who faced police action and to further press its demand for the resignation of Pradhan
The Cockroach Janta Party today said its agitation would continue until the demand for the resignation of India's Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is met, after activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day hunger strike.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke thanked Wangchuk for his support for the students' cause and reiterated that the peaceful protest by the Cockroach Janta Party at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi would continue until the demand for Pradhan's resignation is fulfilled.

In a post on X, Dipke said they were relieved to know that Wangchuk had ended his hunger strike after 26 days of fasting. He added that by putting his own life in danger, he "awakened the conscience of the nation."
Indian Health Minister J P Nadda and Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jitendra Singh discussed Wangchuk's health before offering him a liquid to drink late on Thursday night.
Reading out the government's statements to Wangchuk, Nadda, responding to two of the three key demands of the CJP, said: "The government is positive on not registering cases against those protesting peacefully at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and those who participated in the march to Parliament on 20 July, 2026. Besides, the government is also positively considering suitable compensation for the suicide victims of recent NEET paper leaks."
Meanwhile, the government and the CJP are likely to hold talks today at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi after the Centre "agreed" to the outfit's request that the meeting be held at a neutral venue.
However, there was no official confirmation from the government on this so far.
Meanwhile, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi today said students have demanded accountability and educational reforms, but the Modi government has responded to their courage with "cowardice and wanton cruelty", treating them not as inheritors of the future but as enemies of the nation.
She accused the government of degrading India's education landscape and said the country's students have called the Modi regime's "bluff."
