Disabled Bangladeshi woman missing for 5 years, sent back home from Assam

A mentally ill Bangladeshi woman who went missing five years ago, was sent back to her home after she was found in Assam.
The 46-year-old woman had gone missing from her home in Bangladesh five years ago. India Today reported.
Purabi Mahaldar went missing in Jashore of Bangladesh. She was traced in Assam's Cacahar district and the Indian authorities on Tuesday sent her back to Bangladesh through Sutarkandi International Border Point in Karimganj district.

The woman was traced by some locals in Cachar district last week and was handed over to the local police. The woman was homeless and was surviving by begging from people in Cachar district. She slept on roadside at nights.
The Cachar district administration informed Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner in Guwahati about the woman. The Bangladesh government officials later informed that the woman went missing five years ago.
After completing all legal formalities, the Cachar and Karimganj district administration on Tuesday sent the woman back to Bangladesh through the Sutarkandi International Border point.
A police official of Karimganj district said that after completing the legal procedures, she was sent back Bangladesh.
"The woman was traced in Cachar district by some locals while she was roaming the streets. The Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner at Guwahati issued a travel pass for the woman," the police official said.
Recently, Indian government sent back over 100 Bangladeshi nationals who were stuck in Assam and other parts of North Eastern region due to the coronavirus lockdown.
