Khamenei’s X account posts cartoon depicting Trump as collapsing 'sarcophagus'
The cartoon, posted at 4.26am (BST), depicts Trump as a stone coffin designed in an ancient Egyptian style and placed inside a burial chamber. Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics are drawn across the surface of the sarcophagus.
An official X account of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has shared a cartoon today (12 January) portraying US President Donald Trump as a collapsing ancient Egyptian sarcophagus, accompanied by a message warning of his eventual removal from power.
The cartoon, posted at 4.26am (BST), depicts Trump as a stone coffin designed in an ancient Egyptian style and placed inside a burial chamber. Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics are drawn across the surface of the sarcophagus.
The United States flag and the Great Seal are carved onto the coffin. In the image, the sarcophagus appears to be cracking and breaking into pieces. The caption on the cartoon reads, "Like Pharaoh."
The message accompanying the image refers to ancient Egyptian 'Pharaohs' and Nimrod, a figure mentioned in the Bible's Book of Genesis. It states that such rulers fell when they were at the height of their arrogance.
The post also mentions the first and second rulers of Iran's Pahlavi dynasty, Reza Khan and Mohammad Reza Shah.
The message says the individual who is "sitting there with arrogance and pride and judging the whole world" should remember that rulers such as Pharaoh, Nimrod, Reza Khan and Mohammad Reza, along with other oppressive and arrogant leaders, usually fell at the peak of their pride.
The post concludes saying, in the same way, "he [Trump] too will be removed from power."
