A US airstrike at Iran's Mashhad International Airport yesterday (30 March) damaged an aircraft of Iran's private carrier Mahan Air, potentially disrupting a mission to India to collect humanitarian aid, PTI reported citing Iranian officials.
According to the officials, the aircraft was scheduled to travel to New Delhi later this week to collect essential medical supplies intended for the Iranian people. The plane was expected to arrive in the Indian capital on 1 April.
Iranian authorities claimed that the damage occurred during the US strike on Mashhad airport. However, US officials have not yet confirmed or responded to these allegations.
On 18 March, India sent its first consignment of medical supplies to Iran through the Iranian Red Crescent Society. The Iranian embassy in New Delhi expressed gratitude to the people of India for the assistance.
Mahan Air, a privately owned Iranian airline, operates across several regions, including West Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Asia.
