China Red Cross pledges $200,000 for victims of Iranian school attack
The funding will be delivered through the Iranian Red Crescent Society, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun today
China Red Cross has announced it will provide $200,000 in emergency humanitarian aid to the victims of the recent attack on an elementary school in Iran, reports Xinhua.
The funding will be delivered through the Iranian Red Crescent Society, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun today (13 March).
The school was struck during US-Israeli strikes on Iran on 28 February, killing at least 170 people and injuring dozens more.
Guo expressed China's condolences to the families of the students who lost their lives in the attack and extended sympathy to all those affected.
He stressed that China condemns all indiscriminate assaults on civilians and non-military targets, noting that attacks on schools and children violate international humanitarian law and basic moral principles.
"China stands ready to continue providing necessary humanitarian support to Iran, helping the Iranian people cope with the aftermath of this tragedy," Guo added.
