Amnesty calls on India, Pakistan to uphold international obligations, protect civilians

Amnesty International has called on India and Pakistan to uphold their obligations under both international human rights and humanitarian law for the protection of innocents during their recent escalation.
"They must take all necessary measures to protect civilians and minimise any suffering and casualties in both countries," the rights body said in the statement today (8 May).
It said, "As forces from both countries are now engaged in open hostilities, Amnesty International insists that neither security nor justice will be achieved with the senseless loss of more civilian lives."
