Safe migration of female workers demanded
Speakers said female workers are returning from Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries after suffering severe mental torture and sexual abuse
A platform of working women on Monday demanded the government to take effective steps to ensure workplace safety for female migrant workers their safe migration.
They also called for the formation of a coalition to protect the dignity and safety of women workers in the workplace.
The demands were made at a press conference arranged by Female Workers Voice (Nari Sramik Kantha) at the Jatiya Press Club, marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence.

Speakers said female workers are returning from Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries after suffering severe mental torture and sexual abuse.
"The government is not taking any effective action to ensure justice to the tortured female workers...the rights, dignity and protection of migrant workers are not ensured complying with the international labor law," said Umme Hasan Jhalmal, president of the Women's Workers' Alliance.
Karmojibi Nari Director Rahela Rabbani, while presenting the keynote paper said it is necessary to raise public awareness to stop violence against working women.
Shaheen Akhter Parveen, Sheikh Shahnaz, KamrunNahar and Hena Chowdhury also spoke at the press conference.
