Trump announces two-week ceasefire with Iran
Amid tensions in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump has announced a conditional two-week ceasefire with Iran. According to the conditions, Iran must keep the Strait of Hormuz safely open. The decision was taken at the request of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir. Iran also agreed to the proposal and said that if the attacks stop, they will suspend military operations, but will respond if necessary. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the basis for negotiations has been laid and security in the Strait of Hormuz will be ensured. US-Iran talks are scheduled to begin in Islamabad on April 10. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has objected to the ceasefire and considers it risky.
