Mount Everest road closed due to severe snowstorm

A severe snowstorm has blocked roads in the Mount Everest region east of Tibet, trapping about 1,000 tourists and climbers. Chinese state media reported that rescue efforts began on Sunday, October 5, and local authorities are clearing the road.
