The High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by BNP leader Ishraque Hossain seeking directions not to administer the oath as mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation. Following the order, Ishraque will be held in contempt of court if he does not administer the oath by May 26, said Ishraque's lawyer Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon. After dismissing the writ petition on May 22, he further told the media that as a result of this order, there is no longer any obstacle to his swearing in as mayor.
