New Investments Spark Hope in the Garment Industry
According to a report by Prothom Alo, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) stated that from January last year to March this year—a span of 15 months—128 new factories became members of BGMEA. If these factories go into full production, around 74,000 jobs will be created. However, during the same period, 113 factories have shut down, resulting in the loss of jobs for over 96,000 workers.
