How did Israel acquire the Beaufort Castle?
Beaufort Castle, located on a hilltop in southern Lebanon, is a testament to nearly 900 years of history. It was built by King Fulk of Jerusalem in 1139 during the Crusades. Sultan Saladin later captured the castle in 1190. It then passed through the hands of various powers, including the Knights Templar, and remained under Muslim rule for centuries. Israel has recently claimed control of the strategic fortress, which has once again become a center of conflict in the Middle East.
