The woman who shapes the world: A tribute to mothers
"I remember my mother's prayers, and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life." — Abraham Lincoln
If love ever needed a definition, it would begin with the word mother. Before the world teaches us about kindness, sacrifice, protection, or devotion, a mother silently introduces us to all of them. For a child, perhaps the safest place in the entire world is the shade of their mother's saree — a place where fear disappears, and comfort exists without explanation.
The world itself begins with a mother. She is the one who gives life, yet her role goes far beyond that. A mother is not simply a woman; she is a fighter through every age and every civilisation. From the Stone Age to today's digitalised world, mothers have stood beside humanity, carrying generations forward with endless patience and strength. Our first lessons do not begin in classrooms; they begin at home, and home, in many ways, begins with a mother.
A mother's love does not depend on success, failure, achievements, or flaws. Whether her child becomes successful or struggles in life, her care remains unchanged. She knows how to wipe away sadness with the smallest gesture, often sacrificing her own happiness simply to see a smile on her child's face. She is, in every sense, a real-life Wonder Woman.
Motherhood is not limited to humans alone. In every corner of nature, an animal mother protects and nurtures her children with the same fierce devotion. It is proof that a mother's instinct is one of the purest forms of love ever created. A mother feeds, carries, protects, and even spoils her children with affection. While the world may sometimes walk away, a mother often remains — holding onto her child with immeasurable emotion and unconditional care.
No other love can truly be compared to a mother's love. It is perhaps the purest and most divine form of affection one can ever experience. Even while fighting her own battles, a mother chooses to stand beside her child during every storm. She becomes the shield against the world, protecting her family even when she herself feels exhausted.
Yet society has not always treated mothers with the respect they deserve. In many places, daughters are still considered unwanted, as though their existence carries less value. But people often forget that every mother they cherish today was once someone else's daughter. The very women who shape families and societies were once little girls themselves.
Motherhood is far from easy. From carrying a child for nine months to enduring unbearable pain during childbirth, mothers go through struggles that are often overlooked. Still, some reduce them to nothing more than machines meant for giving birth. Such thinking fails to understand the true meaning of being a mother. Becoming a mother is not a simple task; it is a lifelong commitment of sacrifice, resilience, and endless responsibility.
