Xiaomi takes the fast lane into Gran Turismo with its first virtual Hypercar
The technology giant steps into automotive fantasy design with the Vision Gran Turismo, a hypercar built purely for the world of racing games
Xiaomi has unveiled a full-scale concept model of an electric hypercar at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona. Named the Vision Gran Turismo, the vehicle was built exclusively for the iconic Gran Turismo racing game series — and it is turning heads.
This collaboration makes Xiaomi the only technology company ever invited to join the Vision Gran Turismo project, an initiative where designers conceive dream cars free from the constraints of real-world production.
Gran Turismo producer Kazunori Yamauchi extended the invitation last year at the GT World Series in London.
The design philosophy, called "Sculpted by the Wind", is more than a tagline. Every surface serves an aerodynamic purpose. An Active Wake Control System uses micro-perforations around the tail lights to manage airflow. Special wheel covers, known as Accretion Rims, remain stationary while the car moves, cutting drag further and directing airflow towards the brakes for cooling.
Inside, Xiaomi calls the cabin the "Sofa Racer". It ditches traditional bucket seats for a cocoon-like space lined with breathable 3D-knit fabric. The intelligent assistant Xiaomi Pulse is built into the dashboard, while HyperVision provides an adaptive display interface linked to the company's broader "Human x Car x Home" smart ecosystem.
The Vision Gran Turismo is due to arrive in Gran Turismo 7 this September. Xiaomi has also designed a home driving simulator to accompany it, styled as a piece of furniture rather than gaming equipment.
Although the car will not reach real roads, it is still a statement of design ambition that is hard to ignore.
