SydneySun to invest $5m on building surveillance equipment plant
The plant in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in Gazipur is expected go into production in January next year
SydneySun International, the sole authorized distributor of China-based Dahua Technology, is set to invest $5 million on building a surveillance equipment plant in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City at Kaliakoir in Gazipur.
The plant will be set up at Summit Technopolis at Block II of Hi-Tech City. On Monday, a land lease agreement was inked to this effect among SydneySun, Summit Technopolis and Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority.
The plant will manufacture and assemble Semi Knocked Down (SKD) surveillance products, e.g., internet protocol cameras (IP camera), network video recorders and closed-circuit television (CCTV) camers.

The plant is expected to go into production in January next year. Investors anticipate that the unit will employ about 90 Bangladeshi engineers, along with ten foreign experts.
Summit Technopolis Limited, a Public Private Partnership (PPP) venture, took the 91-acre area in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City on a 60-year lease from the government. The venture now hands over the plot to SydneySun on another lease agreement.
The deal signing ceremony was attended by Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Managing Director, Hosne Ara Begum; Bangladesh Computer Samity President, Md Shahid-ul-Munir, while Summit Group Vice-Chairman, Latif Khan, Summit Group Directors Fadiah Khan and Salman Khan, and other senior officials of the companies were connected through video conferencing.
Established in 2004, SydneySun is a major market player of surveillance products in Bangladesh.
It has installed city surveillance network in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh's top tourist destination, delivered end-to-end solutions to the central command of Bangladesh Highway Police, and provided non-contact body temperature measurement solutions to highly sensitive premises, including Bangabhaban (the Presidential Palace) and the Prime Minister's official residence Ganabhaban.
