Poco F7 Ultra: Flagship killer contender for 2025?

Xiaomi's Poco brand has long been known for delivering solid performance at a price that does not break the bank. But with the launch of the Poco F7 Ultra, things have taken a different turn.

The brand's first 'Ultra' phone promises to deliver top-tier specs while maintaining that affordability.

Under the hood, the Poco F7 Ultra packs the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, supported by the VisionBoost D7 graphics chip. This combination does not break records, but it puts the phone in league with some of the best on the market. The phone handles everyday tasks smoothly, and its gaming performance impresses, especially with a generous 12GB of RAM, going up to 16GB on the top model.

But it is not just about the specs.

The design of the F7 Ultra feels more robust than its predecessors, with a flagship-level IP68 rating, making it dust and water-resistant. Its bright yellow rear panel stands out, although there is also a subtler black version for those who prefer something more refined.

The camera setup is a step up for Poco. According to TechRadar's review, the 50MP main sensor captures good, balanced photos, but it is not groundbreaking. The 32MP ultra-wide and 50MP 2.5x telephoto lens add versatility, especially for those who enjoy zooming in. While the camera quality does not rival high-end flagships, it holds its own against other mid-range competitors.

Battery life is another strong point of the phone. The 5,300mAh battery easily lasts two days of moderate use, and with 120W HyperCharge, the phone powers up incredibly fast — just 15 minutes gives you over 50% charge.

At £649, the Poco F7 Ultra is a solid choice for those seeking high-end performance without the premium price.
