iDEA Project wins WITSA award in PPP category

The Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) Project of the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), under the ICT Division of the Bangladesh Government, was runner-up in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) category of the 2020 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards.

On the second day of the 2020 TECHFEST Live! x ROAD TO WCIT Malaysia hybrid event, the World IT and Services Alliance (WITSA) announced that 12 private and public sector organisations from four different continents were selected to receive the 2020 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards, including the special WITSA Chairman's Awards, on Thursday in Penang, Malaysia, read a press release.

WITSA is the leading recognised voice of the global ICT industry, whose members from over 80 countries and economies represent more than 90% of the world's ICT market.

The WITSA Awards recognise the entities that made the most significant contributions to mankind in 2020. This time, 10 categories were selected for this award where 10 runners-up and 21 merit awards, including winners, were recognised in each category.

Bangladesh received the runner-up award in four categories and the merit award in two categories.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister, ICT Division of Bangladesh congratulated the recipients of all the awards from home and abroad. He hopes this honour will inspire everyone to undertake more successful initiatives in the future. 

Regarding this achievement, BCC Executive Director Parthapratim Deb said, "We are very proud of this international award. Bangladesh has come a long way in the ICT sector and this development will continue. This international honour will serve as our inspiration."

Project Director (Additional Secretary) of the iDEA Project Syed Mojibul Huq said, "About 158 startups have been provided pre-seed grants through this project till now. Since its beginning, the iDEA Project has undertaken several initiatives through PPP with various educational institutions, including governmental and non-governmental organisations as well as international organisations."
