Canon brings EOS R6 III for hybrid shooters
The new model brings a sharper sensor, impressive burst speeds, and professional-grade video features
No more playing it safe — with the launch of the EOS R6 III, Canon seems eager to reclaim its ground in the full-frame hybrid camera scene. The new model brings a sharper sensor, impressive burst speeds, and professional-grade video features to stay competitive against Sony and Panasonic.
The EOS R6 III comes with a 32.5-megapixel sensor, a major jump from the 24MP chip of its predecessor. This upgrade not only enhances image detail but also enables faster processing with Canon's latest Digic X processor.
The camera can shoot at up to 40 frames per second using its electronic shutter, making it a reliable companion for sports and wildlife photography.
Autofocus performance has also received a major boost. The Dual Pixel AF system, coupled with Canon's AI-based subject tracking, recognises people, animals, and vehicles, even in low light conditions down to -6 EV.
Features like "Register People Priority," borrowed from the higher-end R5 II, help maintain focus on specific faces during dynamic shoots.
Video capabilities, however, are where the EOS R6 III truly shines. The camera now supports 7K RAW video at 60 frames per second, along with 4K at 120 fps, offering immense flexibility for filmmakers.
With Canon's signature colour profiles, C-Log2 and C-Log3, users can expect cinematic quality straight out of the box.
The addition of a CFexpress slot allows faster data transfer and RAW recording, while the 8.5-stop in-body stabilisation ensures smoother footage.
Priced at $2,799 for the body, the EOS R6 III stands out as a strong mid-range option that blends power, precision, and versatility in one dependable package.
