During the incident, the protesting students were heard chanting slogans, including "Naraye Takbir, Allahu Akbar" and "Mujibbad-er Kobor De"

At around 1am, a group of over a hundred people gathered at the site and used hammers and other metal tools to damage parts of the mural, witnesses said

The man started hitting the mural of Bangabandhu with a brick at the east intersection of the upazila town around 4 pm on Friday. At one stage, a portion of the mural got damaged.
