Electromart’s path to smarter, greener, and more affordable living
With the promise of ‘Clean Breath, Green Tomorrow,’ GREE is driving innovation that cares for both health and the planet. Similarly, KONKA’s energy-efficient refrigerators and AI technology enabled washing machines are proving that cutting-edge technology doesn’t have to come at a premium price

Energy efficiency has become one of the defining issues of our time, and at Konka, Gree, and Haiko, we have made it central to how we design and deliver our products. Our focus has been on integrating smart and sophisticated technologies that optimise performance while consuming less energy. From inverter technology in refrigerators and freezers to G-Boost compressors in air conditioners, we are introducing solutions that make households more energy efficient without compromising comfort. By adopting eco-friendly materials, ensuring better insulation, and developing advanced designs such as improved airflow and effective seals, we are minimising energy waste across our product range.
But innovation alone is not enough—affordability matters deeply in a country like Bangladesh. Many of our consumers are still price-sensitive, and so our guiding motto is simple: deliver international-quality products at prices that are accessible. To achieve this, we balance cost and efficiency carefully. We prioritise high-impact, cost-effective upgrades like LED lighting and smart thermostats, while also making use of financing options and government incentives to reduce the initial burden on customers. In this way, we ensure that energy savings are not only a luxury but a reality for the average household.
Unsurprisingly, the demand for energy-efficient appliances is rising sharply. While environmental awareness plays a role, the most immediate driver is the rising cost of electricity. Families want products that directly reduce their monthly utility bills, and that is exactly what our appliances offer—lower power consumption, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and long-term financial savings.
Of course, government support is critical in making this transformation sustainable. Policies such as tax reductions, subsidies, and minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) play a big role in encouraging manufacturers like us to innovate and align with international best practices. Regulations create market demand for energy-efficient products, while financial support lowers the risks of adopting new technologies. Together, these measures accelerate the transition towards a green manufacturing ecosystem in Bangladesh.
When it comes to specific innovations, we have already made significant strides. For example, Konka and Haiko refrigerators feature inverter technology and eco-friendly refrigerants such as R600a, designed to run on low power and even integrate with solar systems—an important step for rural areas with weak electrification. We are also testing future-ready models for off-grid and low-voltage conditions, ensuring that energy efficiency is not just for urban households but for all.
Gree has recently pioneered solar-powered air conditioners, which will soon be available in Bangladesh. These units, powered directly by photovoltaic panels, dramatically reduce reliance on the grid. Gree's G-Boost inverter compressor is another breakthrough—cutting energy use by up to 60% compared to traditional systems and maintaining performance even in extreme temperatures of up to 65°C.
Our washing machines are equally future-focused. Konka models now feature inverter motors, Eco-Wash functions, AI intelligence, and ultra-thin automatic drum technology. These upgrades deliver powerful cleaning while lowering both electricity and water consumption, making them both durable and cost-effective for everyday use.
However, technology alone cannot drive change unless consumers understand the long-term savings these products bring. That is why we invest in awareness-building through clear product labelling, energy-saving tips, targeted marketing, and even energy audit demonstrations. We also collaborate with banks and financial institutions to help customers afford the initial purchase, making the long-term benefits more accessible.
Looking to the future, I firmly believe that most of our products will align with international certification standards such as ENERGY STAR. While not every single appliance may reach that level immediately, the global push for energy efficiency is reshaping both trade and product design. Soon, smart home integration and even data security will become as important as performance.
Of course, there are challenges. Local manufacturers in Bangladesh often face difficulties sourcing advanced technologies due to high costs, dependence on imports, infrastructure gaps, and limited skilled labour. These are real hurdles, but they also present opportunities for innovation and partnerships.
Finally, I see smart appliances and IoT as playing a transformative role in Bangladesh's energy landscape. Remote monitoring, automated controls, energy analytics, and renewable energy integration will allow households to manage consumption intelligently. With smartphone penetration growing rapidly, the ecosystem for smart energy solutions is already taking shape.
At Konka, Gree, and Haiko, our vision is clear: to make sustainable, smart, and affordable appliances mainstream in Bangladesh. The journey is challenging, but the rewards—both for households and the nation's energy future—are immense.
