Electro Mart Group wins SDG Champion Prize 2025
Electro Mart Group has won the SDG Champion Prize 2025 for its contribution to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through electronics manufacturing in Bangladesh.
The award was presented at a ceremony in Nepal, where Dr Rambhakta Thakur, former ambassador and election commissioner of Nepal; Yankila Sherpa, former tourism minister and member of the Bagmati Province Assembly; and Bhagwati Chaudhary, former minister for women, children and senior citizens, handed over the certificate and crest to Md Nurul Afser, deputy managing director of Electro Mart Group.
According to the organisers, the award recognises Electro Mart Group's contributions to SDG targets 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13, particularly through manufacturing, marketing and after-sales services of electronics and home appliances in Bangladesh. The group's activities were evaluated in areas including employment generation, poverty reduction, industrial development, climate responsibility and environmental protection.
Electro Mart Group introduced the Konka and Gree brands to Bangladesh before expanding into manufacturing. Since 2018, the group has been producing Konka and Gree products, alongside its own brand, Haiko, at its factory in Narayanganj.
Through technology transfer from China, the group manufactures energy-efficient and environmentally friendly electronics and home appliances for the local market. Its product range includes refrigerators, freezers, LED televisions, washing machines, microwave ovens, small kitchen appliances and a wide range of air conditioning and air treatment solutions.
Commenting on the recognition, Md Nurul Afser stated that the award brings added responsibility and motivation for the group to strengthen its commitment to sustainable development. He expressed gratitude to customers, partners and stakeholders for their continued trust and support.
