There is no point thinking too much about the failure in New Zealand: Soumya
Soumya Sarkar thinks that they should leave the past behind and focus on the future.
Left-handed batter Soumya Sarkar told the media on Wednesday that there is absolutely no point thinking too much about the failure in New Zealand and the team is looking to return to winning ways at their own backyard against Sri Lanka.
Sarkar returned to the ODI set-up after a year and a half against West Indies earlier in the year. He played as a finisher at the lower middle order in that series.
The southpaw was slotted at number three in the New Zealand tour in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan. But he couldn't make any substantial contribution in the ODIs and the tean succumbed to defeat in all three matches.

But Sarkar thinks that they should leave the past behind and focus on the future.
"Every match is important. I think there is no point thinking too much about the failure in New Zealand. We are keen to leave the past behind and begin afresh. It's a home series and we are confident," said the 28-year old.
Soumya Sarkar said that they are looking to take one match at a time and hopes that the result will come in favour of them.
"When we play international cricket, we always look to win matches. We will be taking one match at a time. I hope the results will be in our favour. I think the players who did well in Sri Lanka will have a big role and if they can carry their forms, it will be great for us," he said.
Sarkar is happy to get Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman back in the team. Mustafizur Rahman, in particular, was in superb form in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
"Obviously Shakib bhai's presence adds a lot of value to the team as he performs in all departments. We've watched Mustafiz bowl well in the IPL. So it's great to have them back," he signed off.
