Taskin, Shoriful strike in the first session

Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed struck twice, while Shoriful Islam claimed one wicket, reducing the West Indies to 39 for three after 12 overs during the morning session on Day 4 of the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Monday.

Taskin dismissed opener Mikyle Louis (8) and top-order batter Keacy Carty (3), while Shoriful accounted for Windies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite (23).

Taskin Strikes on Third Attempt

Taskin Ahmed was initially denied a wicket on consecutive deliveries during the morning session but succeeded on his third attempt, removing opener Mikyle Louis.

The pacer could have sent both openers, Kraigg Brathwaite and Louis, back to the pavilion earlier, but Shahadat Hossain Dipu dropped a straightforward chance at first slip in the third over, granting Brathwaite a reprieve. On the next ball, an inswinger struck Louis on the front pad but was given not out by the umpire. Replays later confirmed the ball would have hit the stumps.

After 10 overs, the West Indies stood at 34 for one.

Bangladesh Declares

Earlier, Bangladesh declared their innings at 269 for nine, in response to the West Indies' first-innings total of 450 for nine declared.
