Sumon Khan's fiery fifer restrict Najmul XI to 173

Batting first, Najmul XI lost their opener, Saif Hassan, early in the first over. Mahmudullah XI bowled Najmul XI out for 173 runs in the all-important BCB President's Cup final. Pacers once again dominated the play while Irfan Sukkur almost single-handedly took his team to a somewhat decent position.
Batting first, Najmul XI lost their opener, Saif Hassan, early in the first over. Wickets kept falling in regular intervals before Irfan Sukkur and Tauhid Hridoy built an 80-run partnership to put their team in a somewhat decent position in the end. Pacer Sumon Khan took 5 wickets as he destroyed the Najmul XI batting line up.
Mahmudullah will need 174 runs to win the trophy when they come on to bat.

Sukkur's one-man show
Najmul XI openers once again failed to score runs today. Saif Hassan went back to the pavilion in the very first over. Soumya, who has been terrible throughout the tournament, once again had a miserable day. He was gone for 5 off 11 balls. Topper duo Mushfiqur Rahim and Afif Hossain Dhrubo could not do much as they went back early as well. Mushfiq scored 12 before falling to LBW trap to pacer Sumon Khan while Afif scored a duck.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto looked promising while he lasted but eventually fell into the trap of Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
It was all Irfan Sukkur after that. Najmul XI were 64 for 5 after 21.3 overs. He built an 80-run partnership with Tauhid Hridoy for the 6th wicket where most of the runs were scored by him. These two brought back memories of the very first match of the tournament where Najmul XI were in somewhat a dangerous position and these two came out as their saviours.

Sukkur ended up scoring a magnificent 75 off 77 balls with 8 boundaries and 2 over boundaries. He played shots all around the ground, fought with the tail-enders to score the last few important runs. He took his total run tally to 214, making him the second top scorer of the tournament behind Mushfiqur's 219.

Sumon Khan's fiery fifer
Young speedster Sumon Khan was the pick of the bowlers with his five-wicket haul in the all-important final. He bagged Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Nayeem Hasan and Nasum Ahmed. This was only the second five-wicket haul in the tournament so far. Saifuddin bagged the first fifer for Tamim XI in the last group stage match against Najmul XI.
Rubel Hossain was on fire as well. He equaled Saifuddin's top wickets tally with his brace today. He started the fest by picking up Saif Hassan in the very first over of the game and finished with the top scorer Irfan Sukkur. He gave away only 27 runs from his 8 overs including 2 maidens.
Ebadot Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and skipper Mahmudullah Riyad took a wicket each to bowl out their bitter opponents.

Wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan Sohan had a good day behind the wickets today. He took three catches and all of them were of Sumon Khan's deliveries. The one he grabbed to send Afif back was really outstanding.

Mahmudullah XI has now got a great chance to take revenge on their bitter opponents to whom they lost twice in the group stage and eventually become the champions tonight. They will surely be cautious in their approach when they come on to bat.
