Sudden change in BPL final timing

After 39 days of on-field battles, the 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is set to conclude. The title fight will take place tomorrow at the Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium between Fortune Barishal and Chittagong Kings. The final was originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m., but in a last-minute change, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has adjusted the start time.

According to the previously set schedule, the BPL final was to begin at 7 p.m. However, in a statement issued around 7:30 p.m. today, the BCB announced that the match will now begin an hour earlier, at 6 p.m. The toss will take place at 5:30 p.m. After a 20-minute innings break, the second innings will start at 7:50 p.m., and the second innings will conclude at 9:20 p.m.

So far in this year's BPL, Fortune Barishal has been the most successful team. The current champions, after a winning start, have continued their unstoppable form. With 9 wins from 12 league matches, they secured a maximum of 18 points and advanced to the playoffs. In the first qualifier, Barishal defeated Chittagong Kings by 9 wickets to reach the final for the second consecutive time.

After a decade-long absence from the BPL, Chittagong Kings have made an impressive return. Although their start wasn't great, they began their campaign with a loss to Khulna Tigers. However, after four consecutive wins, they found their rhythm and quickly bounced back. With 8 wins from 12 matches and 16 points, they claimed the second spot in the standings.

Though they lost to Barishal in the first qualifier, Chittagong Kings bounced back in the second qualifier, defeating Khulna to secure their place in the final. After playing in the 2013 BPL final, they had not participated in the tournament again until now. Returning after 12 years, the team from the port city of Chattogram is hoping for its first-ever title.
