Spanish World Cup winner Xavi applied for India coaching job: reports
Despite his interest, a board member admitted that financial constraints prevented them from seriously considering his candidacy

Spanish football legend Xavi Hernandez was interested in managing India's national football team, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has confirmed.
As reported by The Times of India, the former Barcelona player and head coach submitted an incomplete application using his personal email address, failing to include essential information such as a contact number.
"It's correct that Xavi's name was there," said AIFF national teams director Subrata Paul.
Despite his interest, a board member admitted that financial constraints prevented them from seriously considering his candidacy.
Xavi, who stepped down from his role at Barcelona in May 2024, has previously expressed admiration for Indian football, noting the strong Spanish influence within the league.
