Ruma Khatun bags the first gold medal in taekwondo
The athlete, who hails from Faridpur, won gold in the Senior Women's Poomsae (18-24 years) event with a score of 7.70 in the event that started at the National Sports Council Gymnasium on Tuesday.

Ruma Khatun of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP won the first gold in the Taekwondo discipline of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games.
The athlete, who hails from Faridpur, won gold in the Senior Women's Poomsae (18-24 years) event with a score of 7.70 in the event that started at the National Sports Council Gymnasium on Tuesday.
Anika Akhter of the Bangladesh Army won silver despite a score of 7.60.
Israt Jahan Riya of Comilla District Sports Association won bronze with a score of 7.30.
This was the first time Ruma participated in Bangladesh Games and she has won gold on the very first attempt.
"This is my first Bangladesh Games. And I won gold on the very first attempt. I can't explain how great it feels," said Ruma.
Elsewhere, Sumaiya Islam Annie and Anika Akter of the Bangladesh Army won gold in women's doubles in the taekwondo discipline of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games.
