Rohit Sharma equals record with 12th consecutive toss loss
India last won a toss in men’s ODIs in the semi-final of the 2023 World Cup, also against New Zealand, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

India captain Rohit Sharma equalled an unwanted record on 9 March 2025, when he lost his 12th consecutive toss in One Day Internationals, matching former West Indies captain Brian Lara's streak.
The latest misfortune came in the ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium, where Mitchell Santner called correctly and opted to bat first.
As the coin fell in Santner's favour, Rohit managed only a wry smile before stepping aside for the New Zealand captain's interview with Ravi Shastri.
