Rangpur secure play-offs, where do the other teams stand?

Rangpur Riders have cemented their place in the play-offs of the 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, with four matches still to play.

The team, led by Nurul Hasan Sohan, continued their dominant form by defeating Chattogram Kings by 33 runs at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Friday.

This marked their eighth consecutive win, taking them to 16 points from eight matches. Even if they lose their remaining games, their spot in the play-offs remains secure.

Seven teams are competing in this year's BPL. Dhaka Capitals, at the bottom of the table, have managed just 2 points from 8 matches. Even with four wins in their remaining games, their maximum potential tally is 10 points, which rules them out of play-off contention.

Sylhet Strikers, currently sixth with 4 points from 7 matches, could reach a maximum of 14 points if they win all their remaining five games. However, this would still leave them short of Rangpur's total.

Khulna Tigers sit in fifth place with 4 points from six matches. Even if they win all their remaining six games, they would only reach 16 points, matching Rangpur's current tally.

Durbar Rajshahi, in fourth place with 6 points from 7 matches, can also reach a maximum of 16 points by winning their last five matches.

However, Khulna and Rajshahi face off tomorrow in Chattogram, meaning one team is guaranteed to drop points.

The losing side would only be able to reach 14 points, ensuring Rangpur remain out of their reach.

Fortune Barishal and Chattogram Kings, sitting second and third respectively, each have 8 points from six matches—exactly half of Rangpur's total.

Despite having played two games fewer than Rangpur, both teams have already suffered two defeats.

Their margin for error is shrinking as they seek to solidify their places in the top two for the first qualifier spot
