NCL: Khulna, Dhaka win their 4th round matches

Khulna Division and Dhaka Division won their respective 4th round Tier-1 matches of the National Cricket League (NCL) at two separate venues across the country on Tuesday. 

Khulna Division managed an exciting one-wicket victory against Rangpur Division at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur while Dhaka Division earned a comfortable innings and four-run victory over Rajshahi Division at Academy ground of the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar. 

After the 4th round matches, Khulna cemented their place at the top of the Tier-1 points table securing 26.46 points, followed by Dhaka Division with 20.60 points, Rajshahi Division with 13.61 points and Rangpur Division 8.22 points.

Earlier on the 3rd day (Monday) Dhaka Metro and Sylhet Division won their respective Tier-2 matches of the league against Chattogram Division and Barishal Division by innings. 

Khulna Division vs Rangpur Division: 

Resuming the 2nd innings with overnight total of 130 for 5, Khulna successfully reached the target making 203 runs for 9 in 62.4 overs to win the game by one wicket. 

Khulna needed 73 runs on the last day to win the game with five wickets in hand. Both overnight batsmen Ziaur Rahman (56) and Mehedi Hasan (53) hit fifties but they failed to guide the team towards the victory. They lost ninth wicket leaving 16 runs to win. 

However, Khulna Division, riding on confident batting by Moinul Islam and Abdul Halim in the 9th wicket stand scored the match-winning 203 for 9 in 62.4 overs to win the match by one wicket. 

Sohrawordi Shuvo bagged six wickets conceding 55 runs for Rajshahi, but his bowling effort went in vain as they lost the game. 

Mehedi Hasan of Khulna, who scored 119 runs in the first innings and grabbed two wickets, was adjudged the man of the match.

Brief score: Rangpur first innings: 224/10 in 81.1 overs, Rishad 41, Nasir 40, Shuvo 34, Ariful 27, Razzak 69/7, Mehedi 2/54
Rangpur second innings: 211/10 in 76.5 overs, Nasir 76, Ariful 58, Abdur Razzak 5/71, Mehedi 3/30.

Khulna first innings: 233/10 in 71 overs, Mehedi 119, Rubel 36, Anamul 21, Robiul 5/41, Sajedul 2/29, Mukidul 2/71.
Khulna second innings: 203/9 in 62.4 overs, Mehedi 56, Ziaur 53, Sohrawordi 6/55.
 
Dhaka Division vs Rajshahi Division
Rajshahi suffered their 2nd defeat in the NCL by an innings and four runs against Dhaka Division. 

Resuming the 2nd innings with overnight total of 77/3, Rajshahi tumbled for 241 in 97.2 overs to suffer the huge defeat. They failed to pass Dhaka's first innings total of 475/7 (declared). 

Nazmul Hossain Shatno (51) and Sabbir Rahman (58) hit fifties but their efforts were not enough for Rajshahi to avoid the big defeat. 

Saif Hassan and Nazmul Islam Apu bagged three wickets each for Dhaka. 

Shuvagata Hom of Dhaka was adjudged man of the match scoring 104 runs in the first innings in addition to claiming three wickets 

Brief score: Brief score: Rajshahi first innings: 230/10 in 86.1 overs, Shanto 56, Mukter 56, Sunzamul 49, Sumon 3/43, Shuvagata 3/57, Jubair 2/58.

Rajshahi second innings: 241/10 in 97.2 overs, Sabbir 58, Shanto 51, Saif 3/15, Nazmul 3/58. 

Dhaka first innings: 475/7 (declared) in 136.1 overs, Shuvagata 104, Taibur 102, Nadif 101*, Sunzamul 4/162, Farhad 2/41
