From Miandad's six to Tendulkar's 98: six iconic India-Pakistan ODIs

India and Pakistan are set to reignite their storied, if infrequent, rivalry in the most anticipated clash of the 2025 Champions Trophy on 2 March in Dubai.

Ahead of this high-stakes encounter, here's a look at six unforgettable one-day internationals between the arch-rivals.

Miandad's last-ball six (18 April 1986, Sharjah)

Javed Miandad's last-ball six in the Austral-Asia Cup final remains the most dramatic finish in the history of India-Pakistan ODIs.

Chasing 246, Pakistan found themselves at 61-3 when Miandad walked in. His unbeaten 116 off 114 balls kept Pakistan in the hunt, but they still needed four off the final delivery.

Indian pacer Chetan Sharma bowled a full toss, and Miandad smashed it into the stands, sparking wild celebrations. The iconic knock earned Miandad a golden sword as a reward.

Imran's spell in vain (22 March 1985, Sharjah)

Imran Khan produced his best ODI bowling figures of 6-14, tearing through India's batting line-up for just 125.

However, Pakistan's own batting crumbled under pressure. Ramiz Raja top-scored with 29, but Pakistan were bundled out for 87, handing India an unlikely victory.

Jadeja's blitz stuns Pakistan (9 March 1996, Bangalore)

India's Ajay Jadeja turned the tide in a fiery World Cup quarter-final, hammering 45 off just 25 balls.

He took apart Waqar Younis in the death overs, smashing four fours and two sixes to propel India to 287-8.

Pakistan were cruising in reply when Aamir Sohail taunted Venkatesh Prasad after hitting a boundary. Prasad bowled him the very next ball, shifting momentum as India clinched a 39-run win.

Ganguly's century edges Anwar (18 January 1998, Dhaka)

Sourav Ganguly's majestic 124 overshadowed Saeed Anwar's 140 in the final of Bangladesh's Silver Jubilee Independence Cup.

Chasing 315, India needed three runs from two balls when Hrishikesh Kanitkar drove a boundary to seal a thrilling win with one ball to spare.

It was the highest successful chase in ODI history at the time.

Tendulkar's masterclass (1 March 2003, Centurion)

Sachin Tendulkar's 98 against Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup is remembered as much for his iconic uppercut six off Shoaib Akhtar as for its impact.

Facing a pace attack featuring Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Akhtar, Tendulkar dominated, guiding India to a comfortable six-wicket victory in their chase of 274.

Akhtar eventually dismissed him, but the damage had already been done.

Zaman's Champions Trophy heroics (18 June 2017, London)

Fakhar Zaman's scintillating century powered Pakistan to a stunning 180-run win in the 2017 Champions Trophy final.

His 114 off 106 balls, alongside a 128-run opening stand with Azhar Ali, propelled Pakistan to 338-4.

India never recovered, collapsing to 158 all out despite Hardik Pandya's 76, as Hasan Ali took 3-19 to seal Pakistan's triumph.
