Jahanara to play for Velocity again, Salma in Trailblazers

That Jahanara Alam and Salma Khatun would be part of this year's Women's T20 Challenge was confirmed earlier, and on Sunday, their teams have also been confirmed.

Jahanara was the first Bangladeshi cricketer to feature in the tournament when she played for Velocity last year. She will play for the same side this year too. On the other hand, veteran all-rounder Salma Khatun, who will take part in the tournament for the first time, will play for the Trailblazers.

The tournament will start on November 4 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Salma Khatun, the captain of the T20 side of the Bangladesh Women's Cricket team, is delighted to get such an opportunity. "I heard just a few moments ago that I'd play for the Trailblazers. Ahead of the tournament, I need to prepare myself. That's why I have returned to Dhaka today. I am hoping for the best. I will give my best if given a chance," mentioned Salma.

Pacer Jahanara Alam wants to utilise her experience she gathered while playing the tournament the previous year. She said, "I played in the tournament last year. So I know what it is like there. Hope I'll be able to make use of my experience this year. I've been preparing myself in Mirpur for the last few days. I hope that I'll be able to work on my weaknesses extensively before flying to the UAE."

The teams of the three-team tournament will be skippered by Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana. Teams can field a maximum of four overseas players, just like the IPL.

The final of the tournament will be held in Sharjah on November 9.
